Help ! I am no good at drawing faces. So I took a course on face drawing. It was difficult for me. Especially noses are my nightmare. Interesting was also to figure out what kind of face drawing corresponds to the way I want to express myself in my art. I will never be a portrait drawer, this does not seem to fit my energy expression (although I admire people who can draw portraits as if it were photographs).
One of course exercises was to make quick, loose drawings of faces. Kind of a smudgy look, with lots of black water soluble pencil, with charcoal, oil pastels.
Seeing these ladies again, while blogging here on it…they are far from perfect, but I like their distressed look, their imperfection, together with the nostalgic almost sepia colouring. They make me think of old aunts photographs.
